E-commerce & payments

Stripe and e-commerce developer for checkouts, stores and billing

Stripe checkouts, subscriptions, invoices and WooCommerce stores that convert and reconcile cleanly.

Starting price

From €2,400

The final price depends on scope. You get a fixed quote or a day-rate estimate before any work starts.

When your product needs to take money

Most payment problems stay invisible until money goes missing. An order is paid in Stripe but never shows up in your admin. A customer is charged twice because a webhook ran twice. A subscription renews, the card fails and nobody is told. Invoices go out without your VAT number.

I build and fix the part of your product that takes payments: checkouts, subscriptions, deposits, refunds, invoices and the emails around them. The people who usually hire me for this are:

  • Founders adding paid plans to a SaaS or app that already has users
  • Shop owners on WordPress who need a faster or more custom store
  • Platforms that take bookings or deposits online
  • Teams whose current integration loses or duplicates orders

How I build payment flows

I start from the failure cases, not the happy path. Before writing code, I list every event your payment provider can send (paid, failed, refunded, disputed, renewed) and agree with you what the product does for each one. Then I build against test mode, with test cards for declines and 3D Secure, and show you the flow in a weekly demo.

Webhooks are verified, logged and safe to run twice. Card details go straight to Stripe or PayPal and never pass through your server. On the back end I usually work in Laravel with Cashier, or in Nuxt and Node.js for lighter stores. For a catalogue-heavy shop, WooCommerce is often the cheaper answer, and I will say so.

If you are building a full booking or multi-vendor product, see booking and marketplace platforms. For a store that lives on WordPress, see WordPress development.

Store and payment work in production

  • Smiles Casino: identity verification (KYC) and payment integrations for a US social sweepstakes casino, built on Next.js 16, React 19 and Node.js.
  • NVC Trading: an online store for building materials and DIY supplies, with a React front end on WordPress.
  • Good Earth: a WordPress catalogue of about 1,000 products imported from CSV with a custom plugin, plus a "Peel & Win" campaign with code redemption and randomly assigned prizes.

More projects are in the portfolio.

What affects the price

Projects start from €2,400; you get a fixed quote after a short scoping call. The final price depends on:

  • One-off payments versus subscriptions, deposits or payouts to third parties
  • How many currencies, countries and tax rules you sell in
  • Whether I build the store from scratch or add payments to an existing app
  • How much invoicing, refund handling and reporting you need at launch

You work directly with me, one senior developer with 15+ years of shipping web products, from the first call to the first live order. I sign NDAs, you own the code, and I reply to enquiries within one working day.

How we work

  1. 1

    Scoping call

We map what you sell, how customers pay (one-off, subscription or deposit) and which countries and currencies you need. You get a written proposal with a fixed price.

  2. 2

    Payment flow design

Before any code, I write down every checkout step, provider event and failure case, so you sign off on refunds, retries and customer emails up front.

  3. 3

    Build in test mode

I build against Stripe or PayPal test mode and demo it every week, including declined cards, refunds and 3D Secure prompts.

  4. 4

    Go live and handover

We switch to live keys together and watch the first real orders. Then I hand over the documentation or keep the integration under maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to add Stripe payments to my website?

Payment projects start from €2,400 for a single checkout flow with webhooks, emails and testing. Subscriptions, payouts to third parties or a full online store cost more and get a fixed quote after a short scoping call. Small fixes to an existing integration are billed at €60/hour.

Our Stripe integration loses or duplicates orders. Can you fix it?

Yes. Missing and duplicate orders usually come from webhooks that are not verified, not retried or not safe to process twice. I audit the handlers, add logging, make each event idempotent and then check past events against your orders to find anything that was missed.

Do I need a custom store or is WooCommerce enough?

If you sell a standard catalogue with little custom logic, WooCommerce is usually cheaper to build and run. A custom Nuxt or Laravel store makes sense when your pricing, bookings or product rules do not fit a plugin. I tell you which one fits on the scoping call, before you pay for anything.

Can you set up subscriptions and recurring billing?

Yes. I build plans, trials, upgrades and downgrades with Laravel Cashier or Stripe Billing, including emails for failed renewals and a customer portal where users update their card and download invoices.

Is a Stripe checkout secure and PCI compliant?

Card details go straight from the browser to Stripe or PayPal through their own payment fields, so card data never touches your server. That keeps your PCI compliance work minimal. I also verify webhook signatures and keep secret keys out of the codebase.

Can you add payments to an app someone else built?

Yes. I work on existing Nuxt, Vue, Laravel, React, Next.js and WordPress codebases. I start with a short review of how users and orders are stored, then add payments without rewriting the parts that already work.
